Used LinkedIn to: Establish several groups, as convenient platforms for like-minded individuals to connect and network over shared interests which may not have other platforms for discussion  
How: Chew created LinkedIn Groups to help connect interested members with diverse backgrounds. Some of these groups, like “Singapore Red Cross” stemmed from offline activities and helped volunteers stay connected with each other even when not involved in ongoing activities; while others like “High Reliability Organising” started as online platforms which then led to offline meetings and opportunities. 

Deepanjali Pandey

What: "Found husband’s missing laptop 15,000 kilometres away, via LinkedIn’s advanced search"

Used LinkedIn to: Locate and connect with a fellow traveler who had mistakenly flown off with the wrong laptop, and secure the laptop's safe return
How: Another traveler had mistakenly swapped laptops with Deepanjali’s husband, Surya, at the Mumbai airport. With their only clue being the name of the company marked on the other traveler’s laptop, the couple were able to use LinkedIn’s search functionalities to locate a current employee on the network – one of Surya’s old classmates. One invitation to connect, a phone call and a few emails later; and the HR heads of the company in question had identified and put Surya in contact with the client who had flown to Sweden with his laptop to secure its return – all within just two days.

It also enables fellow delegates to post trade leads and build partnerships. NASSCOM is looking to convert this discourse into actual panel topics.

How: Rypple was a charter customer in LinkedIn's recent Company Pages launch. "Setting up our page was a breeze and it was really easy to share with our connections and followers. Our page was an instant hit thanks to the network effect created by trusted recommendations," said Jesse. Rypple also leveraged other LinkedIn products, including LinkedIn Polls, LinkedIn Ads and LinkedIn Events.     

Andrew Kable

He follows competitive companies via LinkedIn Company Pages to gain business insights, and uses LinkedIn Applications like Slideshare and TripIt to collaborate with his connections.

As a student, he actively participated in discussion forums, and used the network to look for work and for academics with an interest in his field of study. As a businessman, LinkedIn has helped him build up his network internationally, to include suppliers, partners and sales leads.     

John Klodnicki

Nichols has been successful at using his LinkedIn Status Updates to draw traffic to his Website and allow potential clients to find him on the internet, avoiding paying for expensive CRM software.

David T. Stevens

What: "Jobseeker lands not one, but two jobs in a row via LinkedIn status updates"

How: David frequented networking events for his sales job, following up via LinkedIn with the people he "connected" with at the events. Upon being laid off in 2008, David immediately updated his LinkedIn Status to "I'm up for grabs, who wants me?" and received a phone call that morning on a job lead. He was back to work within a week. In 2011, David was ready for a new opportunity and he once again tapped into his professional network, reconnecting with industry peers. Within just two weeks, David had used his LinkedIn connections to land an interview at streamlinevents, was offered a position and accepted the new job.

When she was searching for a job after graduation, she was contacted by two potential employers because they saw the recommendations on her LinkedIn Profile, and she soon had two offer letters in hand.

From clients and professional colleagues, the recommendations have been a contributing factor in allowing him to create new relationships, strengthen existing relationships, and draw the attention of individuals seeking his professional services.

What: "Non-profit connects with key benefactor through LinkedIn”

Used LinkedIn to: Secure funding for a non-profit organization.

How: While directing development at Barrett Foundation, a non-profit that helps homeless women and children rebuild their lives, Barbara started a LinkedIn Group, “Non-Profit Organizations of New Mexico”. The Group helped Barrett Foundation get noticed by Billington Wines, the maker of Big Tattoo Wines in Virginia, who gives 50 cents of every local sale to a local charity. The company recently entered the New Mexico market and chose Barrett Foundation as their local beneficiary through Barbara's activity in the Group.

Jessie Paul

She is also using this group as a platform to cross-pollinate a larger marketing community: the PaulWriter forum.

Nikhita Arora

What: "Because of her LinkedIn Profile a recruiter contacted her for an interview, and she landed the job”

Used LinkedIn to: Catch the eye of a recruiter with her up-to-date LinkedIn Profile.

How: Nikhita maintained an updated profile on LinkedIn and used it to network with mentors from the industry, alumni and other professionals. A recruiter viewed her LinkedIn profile and called her for an interview. Withing 24 hours of the interview being conducted, Nikhita was hired. In her new job, she uses her profile to initiate business meetings with contacts she made online.
